How it works after you pay
- 1One welcome email with one button — opens a guided handover wizard.
- 21-minute intake — ABN, your domain, contact-form destination, anything to be careful with.
- 3You make a free Cloudflare account (2 min). We deploy your site to it. You own everything from day one.
- 4We refine the sample into your real site within 7-14 days. Private preview, revisions until right.
- 5You update DNS using the exact instructions we generate for your registrar (or we do it for you). Site goes live on your domain. You own it. We're out.
Common questions
Where does my site actually live? Who hosts it?+
Your site lives on your own free Cloudflare Pages account — not ours. After we build it, we transfer the keys: you own the Cloudflare project, the source code, and the domain. Cloudflare's free tier covers a small business site comfortably forever — custom domain, free SSL, global CDN, unlimited bandwidth. We're not in the loop after handover, and there's no hosting fee, ever.
What if you disappear after taking my money?+
Byron Web Studio is the trading name of Concussion Education Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 74 688 155 508), a registered Australian company at 2 Wordsworth St, Byron Bay NSW. Stripe handles payment — they hold the money for 7 days and would refund it directly if anything went wrong. And because the site lives on your own free Cloudflare Pages account (not ours) and we email you the full source code as a downloadable bundle, even if we vanished tomorrow your site would keep running, unchanged.
I'm not technical. How does the handover actually work?+
After payment you get a single email with one button. That button walks you through three steps: (1) make a free Cloudflare account — 2 minutes, (2) we deploy your site to it — handled by us, you don't touch anything, (3) update your DNS records — we send you the exact lines to copy-paste into your registrar (Crazy Domains, GoDaddy, etc.). The whole thing usually takes 5-10 minutes of your time. If you'd rather skip it entirely, our Concierge handover ($99 add-on) means we do all three steps on your behalf — you forward us a temporary login, we email you when your site is live.
What if I already have a domain with GoDaddy / Crazy Domains / Squarespace?+
No problem. We auto-detect your registrar and send you the exact DNS records to update — registrar-specific instructions with screenshots. Or forward us a one-time login and we do it for you. Your domain stays in your name. Your email keeps working untouched.
Can I update my own site after launch?+
Yes. Refresh and Rebuild tiers come with content updates by email (we make changes within 48 hours, free, for the first year). Full Suite includes a built-in CMS (Decap) so you edit specials, posts, hours, and product listings yourself, no code. After year 1, hourly editing rate or hire whoever you like — the source code is yours.
Will my Google search ranking drop?+
No. We map every existing URL on your old site to its equivalent on the new one and add 301 redirects, which is what Google explicitly recommends. Most clients see rankings hold or improve in the first month because the new site loads faster and is mobile-friendly.
Why isn't there a subscription / monthly fee?+
Because we don't need recurring revenue to stay alive — the studio is profitable on one-time builds. A monthly fee just means you pay forever for something we built once. Hosting is on your free Cloudflare account, the source code is in your inbox as a downloadable bundle, you own everything. No subscriptions. Ever.
Can I see what my site would look like before I buy?+
Yes — drop your URL into our sample builderand we'll render a real preview of your site in 5 seconds, in any of four styles. That's the actual deliverable shape — what you see is what you get.
What if my mate's nephew can do this for free?+
Cool — go with him. We're the option for people whose time is worth more than the saving, who want it live this week instead of next year, and who'd rather pay once and be done.
